Slow Control data page

Here you can find current data from the TPC Slow Control System:

Status: Currently not operational

The older Slow Control files can be found here.

My  Diploma Thesis(pdf).

Hints for using the data:

·        The file is optimized for use with Microsoft Excel® in English mode.  For this there is an extra tab inserted after the date and time columns – just add both columns in the free column created by the extra tab. Thus you get a valid data source for the time-axis.

·        The water content in ppmV is calculated from the dew/frost point. The dew point instrument provides an analogue output of 10mV/°C which is currently digitized with a precision of 5 mV. Because of this the logged dew point may differ by 0.5 °C from the value on the display of the dew point instrument – affecting the water content in ppmV

·        The dew point instrument provides an automatic cleaning procedure (AMC), where the mirror is heated up to app. 20 – 30 °C. A hold signal for this procedure is available at the device – however it is not yet being read out, so large spikes may occur in humidity data.

·        The pressure difference can be measured directly only in the range of  ±5 mbar, for this a calculated pressure difference was introduced, which is calculated from the difference of absolute system and atmospheric pressure added by an offset of 7.3999 mbar to equalize it to the measured pressure difference.

·        The absolute accuracy of flow measurement depends on the used mass flow controller (currently 200 cm³/min  or 17 ℓ/min). Being completely over dimensioned and driven in the very low region of its range, the 17 ℓ/min device shows about 5 ℓ/h even if no flow is present. Relative accuracy of device is about 0.2 % F.S.

·        The bottle pressure is monitored in a switched mode, as for two instruments there is only one readout channel. The switching is done by a relay every 15 seconds. Resulting from this, single zero values may occur at the start of the program when one channel was not yet read out.

New by October 28th 2009:

·        The slow control system at the Medi-TPC is shut down and prepared for storage. A future readout will most likely be done via DOOCS.

New by June 16th 2008:

·        The water content is now calculated using the measured system pressure – not the standard pressure of 1013.25 mbar anymore.

New by May 21st 2008:

·        Slow Control system in new configuration. New flow controller with  1 ℓ/min.

New by October 25th 2007:

·        Bottle pressure readout has been integrated into the slow control system.

New by August 1st 2007:

·        New MBW Dew Point Instrument installed.

New by May 2nd  2006:

·        Title line in files is now preceded by “#” for compatibility with GNUPLOT.

New by Oct. 20th 2005:

·        Improved accuracy for oxygen measurement by factor of 10.

New by Oct. 13th 2005:

·        The dew point instrument provides an automatic cleaning procedure (AMC), where the mirror is heated up to app. 20 – 30 °C. A hold signal for this procedure is available at the device. If hold signal is on, “HOLD” will be printed in a column, and the last humidity-value, before the hold-signal occurred, will be printed as long as it remains active.
